Lost & Found #49: Aboard the Rocky Mountaineer, Canada 2014

Heading from Vancouver towards the Rocky Mountains, British Columbia Canada

It's a funny feeling being able to take a picture of a train, FROM the train itself; but sometimes, it happens.

Last summer I was aboard the Rocky Mountaineer, travelling from Vancouver to Calgary on some of the original tracks laid by the founders of the Canadian National Railway, and took this image out the side of our car of the front of the train heading off into the distance, and dragging us along with it.

The journey was, needless to say, amazing - but at first I was worried. When we arrived in Vancouver, we had just come off about 26h of flight, and somehow we'd committed ourselves to two 14h days on a train, with only 36h to recover before we started the next part of the journey!

Fortunately, the train was MUCH more spacious and comfortable - even better than Premium Economy on QANTAS - and with regular trips to the dining car below, and panoramic glass ceilings to watch the passing landscape through, it was an excellent way to travel.

What I didn't expect was 'train legs' - stopping overnight in Kamloops (so we wouldn't miss any scenery), the land felt like it was moving. Not because of an earthquake, just because we'd adjusted to the constant movement of the train, and were having trouble adapting back!

So that's this week's Lost & Found image - and here's a bonus one, of the Chateau at Lake Louise. Always beautiful there!
