Last Night Of The Proms with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra
Earlier this year, I was working with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra on their Last Night Of The Proms concert at the Sydney Opera House - and now that they've announced the Queen's Birthday concert again for 2017, I thought I'd put together a few images from the show.
The guest soloist was Greta Bradman, along with the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs; but of course, audience participation is as much the part of a show like this as anything that's happening on stage...between the confetti cannons, the streamers, and of course the many sing-alongs, it's an all-action sort of event.
I'd planned to be upstairs in the gallery for the first act of the show, and then downstairs in the centre for the second half - and hopefully able to get closer to the stage towards the end to get some of the audience as well. But it got a lot harder to move, once the hall was criss-crossed with a layer of streamers!
Still - I was able to squeeze between the singers in the audience, and push (or rip!) my way through the paper, and got to where I needed to be - plus I left a camera on a tripod at the back, which I was able to trigger remotely with a wireless controller, so I could keep shooting from both places for the last few songs. (I managed to stay out of my own photos - mostly...)
Here are a few of my favourites from the night - might see me there again next year!
