Chronicle90 project at the Kage Collective

Over the past few weeks, we've embarked on a new project over at the Kage Collective - we've called it Chronicle90, and we're posting a new essay every day for three months straight.

As there are currently seven of us in the collective, it's broken down relatively easily into a different person each day of the week (though we did swap days after the first month).

In the course of those first seven weeks, I've been over to Canada and back again; so my essays so far have been in and around those travels, visiting family and friends where I grew up before moving to New Zealand and Australia…

September Kage Collective issue out now

Just a quick note that the latest series of essays from all of us at the Kage Collective are up now - and this month is a little different, in that we're relying entirely on the images. No words to our essays this time - apart from a quick introduction from Patrick LaRoque, we're all about silent contemplation this time.

The Asylum project wrapped up over the weekend, and I managed to get back to the Old 505 Theatre on Thursday and Saturday to photograph the last two blocks of scripts I hadn't had an earlier chance to photograph...

This week and next, I'm one of a group of artists donating their time to work on a series of staged readings entitled Asylum, around the experiences of refugees and asylum seekers attempting to make a new home here in Australia.

New Lens Testing: Winter Light on the Streets of Surry Hills, with the Fuji X-Pro 1 & 56mm f/1.2

All right, I finally bit the bullet and got the Fujinon 56mm f/1.2 lens I'd been thinking about for six months or so, to replace my 60mm f/2.4 Macro. That's still a great lens (and I have one spare, if anyone's looking!), I just prefer something with a little more speed & easy focusability in low light for the kinds of things I tend to use it for. I also just really like shallow depth of field - or at very least, I like having the option if I want it...
